Dear Wolfgang,
Firstly, I did not write down the internet address that was on the
t-shirts of your band members in New Orleans.
So I have not been able to find your correct website.
However, I did manage to find you - and recognise you - in the
photographs at http://www.dixie.at I hope I am addressing the right person.
Secondly, and most importantly, I want to thank you and every member of
your young band for some of the very best memories of our visit to
We heard your band every time they played (except on the Monday; we left
Monday morning), including the parade and the Continental Airlines stage. What
a marvellous band you have - you must be very proud of each of them.
You are not only great musicians, but wonderful ambassadors for
Our favourite session was the one at Fritzel's on the Sunday afternoon.
The standing ovation was so well-deserved. We put extra money in the tip
jar!
I am going to confess to something. Only on one occasion in the
whole festival did the music that I heard move me to tears of joy. It was your
playing of Basin Street Blues on that Sunday afternoon. It was magical. I
continue to relive it in my head. I only wish I had brought a tape recorder.
Which reminds me - I think you were taping that session? If so, I would dearly
like to buy a CD if they become available.
Thank you so very much.
We hope to meet and hear you again one day.
Sincerely,
John & Jerri Grimley,
PS: I have more photographs of the band. Let me know if you would like
me to send them to you.
